Pineville Civil Service Board Tables Boxing Grievance. The Pineville Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board heard a firefighter grievance on August 6 centered on whether city firefighters could engage in boxing and sparring while on duty. Under city policy, Pineville firefighters are compensated for on-duty exercise when the activity meets departmental physical fitness standards — a benefit not extended to Pineville Police Department personnel. The board tabled the agenda item, with Chairman Danny Wilburn referring the matter to the board attorney for review before any further action is taken.
