Remembering Hershel Lamar Grice Jr.

Hershel Lamar Grice Jr., was born in Melrose Park Hospital in Chicago, Illinois to Hershel Lamar Grice, Sr., and Mona Faye Ethridge Grice, on May 5, 1958 and passed away from this life on August 5, 2026 at home in the rural community of Boyce, LA near Cotile Lake.

He was proceeded in death by his Father, Hershel Lamar Grice, Sr. Mother, Mona Faye Ethridge, Grice, his sister, Sandra (Sandy) Grice Davis, sister, Karen Denise (Deedee) Grice Davidson..

He is survived by one sister, Toni Lorrie’ Grice McEachern.

Hershel is survived by his beautiful daughter Lisa Marie Andreacchio & husband Russell Andreacchio, his beautiful step-daughter Jacqueline Lonergan & her husband Patrick Lonergan, Hershel had two grandchildren, Brandon Andreacchio, & Taylor Andreacchio, two step-grandchildren, Natalie Lonergan & John Lonergan.

He is survived by the love of his life, Sharon Hall Grice, and his pet cat Bree & dog, Ari whom he watched over daily after his retirement.

Hershel was a proud US Air Force retiree with 20 + years of active service and seven years of Air National Guard for his great country. After retiring from the military, he worked for the VA Hospital, Rapides Parish School System, Blue Cliff College and LSUE (Alexandria).

He was a brilliant student, with 4 associate degrees from Georgia Military College, a Bachelors degree, Valdosta State College, a Masters degree, University of Southern Mississippi, and had almost completed his PHD with a 4.0 grade point average in all subjects. A genius that loved to learn about any subject.

Hershel loved being at home and was always waiting for his Sharon to walk through the door. He loved her cooking and bragged on her all the time. He would tell everyone how she could do anything, while she would tell him right back if she had his smarts it would be dangerous.

Hershel is gone from this life to be with GOD but will be remembered as a kind man with love for his family;. Especially his daddy whom he praised all the time. Due to his illness he was unable to go to church but he loved GOD and JESUS CHRIST and is with them now. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Alexandria, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at the church.
