Rapides Parish Library unveiled the Bronze Braille American Flag at the Martin Library during a dedication ceremony honoring the courage and sacrifices of blind and visually impaired veterans.
Community members, veterans and guests attended the ceremony celebrating the accessible tribute.
The Bronze Braille American Flag features raised stars and stripes with the Pledge of Allegiance presented in Braille, creating a tribute to those who have served the country.
The dedication honors the World War II veterans who founded the Blinded Veterans Association and all veterans who lost their sight during or following military service.
Presented as part of the 250th Anniversary of the United States (1776–2026), the monument serves as a reminder of service, resilience and the enduring pursuit of opportunity for blind veterans.
Rapides Parish Library expressed appreciation to those who attended the ceremony and to partners whose support made the dedication possible, including the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, the State of Louisiana and the Louisiana/Mississippi Blinded Veterans Association Regional Group, Inc.
