DA Office nolle prosses Ryder case

By JIM BUTLER

Kim Beebe Ryder never darkened a courtroom door.

Charged in November 2023 with malfeasance while working for the Sheriff’s Office, her case has been dropped by the District Attorney’s Office.

Any number of things could have led to the nolle prosse decision. As is customary, none were cited in the May motion to end the prosecution.

Ryder was accused of criminal misuse of more than $25,000 from an employee-funded account used for various employee support occasions.

She was 46 at the time and a SO employee for 28 years, a member of a family connected with the office long before the current administration.

A bill of information in her case was filed on August 15, 2024.

According to court records, neither she nor her attorney appeared for scheduled arraignment on August 30, 2024.

The only court minute entry between then and the nolle prosse earlier this year was the normal rotation from one court division to another.
