Remembering Mary “Pat” Weatherford Despino

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary “Pat” Weatherford Despino will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 26, 2026, at St. Rita Catholic Church with Rev. Chad Partain officiating. Interment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM on Friday, June 26, 2026, with recitation of the Holy Rosary beginning at 10:30 AM on Friday, June 26, 2026, in the church.

Mary “Pat” Weatherford Despino, 84, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Surrounded by love, Pat passed peacefully with her daughters by her side and was reunited in heaven with the love of her life.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lawrence Despino; parents, Gerturde and Otis Weatherford; and sister-in-law, Judy Corley Despino.

Mary “Pat” Despino was born on November 23, 1941, in Alexandria, Louisiana. A proud graduate of Providence High School’s Class of 1959, she dedicated many years of service to the Brame Junior High School cafeteria, where she not only provided nourishing meals to students but also offered them kindness, encouragement, and care.

Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love for her family was the foundation of her life. A faithful parishioner of St. Rita Catholic Church, she was actively involved in her church community as a member of the Catholic Daughters, the Altar and Rosary Society, and as a Eucharistic Minister.

She was also a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed participating in Mardi Gras celebrations, embracing the joy, fellowship, and traditions that brought her community together.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Kearns, Ellen Chamblee (Thomas) and Lori Andries (Robert); grandchildren, Jason Kearns, Joseph Kearns (Lindsay), Lindsey Ivory, Jonathan Chamblee (Haley), Hunter Andries (Kaitlyn), Ashtyn Andries (Trace); great-grandchildren, Olivia Ivory, Owen Ivory, Addisyn Chamblee, and Jon Thomas Chamblee; her brother-in-law, Sam “Sammy” Despino and nephews, Jeff Despino and Jody Despino.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Bruce Barton, Guardian Hospice, longtime friend Betty Perrin, and special staff members at Belle Grande Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the compassion, love, and support they provided to Pat throughout her journey.

Pallbearers honored to serve include Jason Kearns, Joseph Kearns, Jonathan Chamblee, Hunter Andries, Jeff Despino, and Jody Despino.
