GAEDA to consider boosting records copy fee
By JIM BUTLER
GAEDA commissioners today will consider raising their recently adopted fee for public record copies to a level more in line with other local governmental bodies.
Back in December the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority set the fee at 25 cents per page, the uniform rate for state agencies.
State law allows agencies to set “reasonable” fees. What is thought reasonable in Baton Rouge, however, is not necessarily considered that in Alexandria, or Loggy Bayou for that matter.
The rate under consideration at today is $1.25.
That fee is only for requested copies. There is no charge, at GAEDA or elsewhere, to view public records, though there is a clearly defined process for requesting as well as producing them.
Also today the commissioners will act on funding requests recommended by committee last week:
Rural Waterways Association state meeting, October, $40,000; United Most Worshipful King George Grand Lodge Grand Session of Louisiana 103rd Masonic Grand Lodge Grand Session, October, $20,000; Rapides Senior Citizens Golden Legends Red Carpet Celebration, August, $7,000; Genesis of Eve Catholic Ministries Conference, September, $15,000.
Absent from the agenda – any reference to personnel discussion. The Operations & Human Resources Committee was to hold an executive session last week to discuss the character, professional competence, or physical or mental health of a person.
