Buckeye’s baseball and softball teams reached the state quarterfinals this spring and the Louisiana Sports Writers Association took notice when putting together the Class 3A All-State teams.
Tioga’s baseball and softball squads combined to place four players on the Class 4A honorable mention lists.
Three Buckeye baseball standouts received honorable mention All-State recognition.
Five Lady Panther softball stars got All-State status – led by first-team pick Sadie St. Pe, a junior outfielder who batted .526.
The other Buckeye softball players cited were honorable mention picks: Olivia Harmson, Kenadee Jeansonne, Makinley Miller and Rosalee Richey.
The Panther baseball honorable mention choices were A.J. Armand, Ty Curtis and Justin Hunt.
Tioga’s softball honorable mention 4A All-State picks were Abby Jones and Baylie Middleton.
The Indians’ baseball team was represented on the 4A HM list by Ryan Crooks and Patton Ferguson.
A 12-member LSWA committee made the selections recently. The Class 5A teams will be announced online today and in Thursday morning’s Rapides Parish Journal, with softball state champion Pineville expected to be well represented.
