Children are invited to buckle up for a summer adventure as First United Methodist Church of Alexandria hosts its free Vacation Bible School, “Road Trip: On the Go with God,” on Friday evenings throughout July.
Designed for children entering Pre-K through 5th Grade during the 2026–2027 school year, Vacation Bible School will take place from 5:30–8PM on July 10, 17, 24, and 31 at the church’s campus on Jackson Street.
Using Cokesbury’s Road Trip curriculum, each evening will feature music, crafts, games, science activities, snacks, and Godly Play Bible storytelling. Through a variety of interactive experiences, children will discover how God’s presence accompanies them throughout life’s journey.
The theme for this year’s program is “God is with us on the journey.” Throughout the month, participants will explore Bible stories that illustrate how God guides, encourages, and remains present with people in every season of life. Featured stories include Abraham and Sarah following God’s call into the unknown, Jesus’ encounter with Zacchaeus, the joyful meeting of Mary and Elizabeth, and the Israelites’ journey through the wilderness.
The program’s key scripture comes from Joshua 1:9: “The LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” The goal is to help children understand that they are never alone, whether they are experiencing joy, uncertainty, change, or new beginnings.
Each week, children will travel through themed stations where hands-on activities reinforce the Bible lesson of the day. From creative projects and science experiments to games and music, every part of the evening is designed to make learning about faith engaging, memorable, and fun.
The Friday evening format also offers parents an opportunity for a summer date night while children enjoy a safe, enriching environment with friends.
