Remembering Robert Matthew Rowe

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Robert M. Rowe, age 92, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.

Born on January 10, 1934, Bob was well known throughout the community as a talented jazz musician. An accomplished pianist, trumpeter, and bassist, he shared his love of music throughout his life. He played during his years at Bolton High School, Louisiana College, and Louisiana State University. He also played his way through Texas A & M.  His band, Just Jazz, performed at numerous local venues and brought enjoyment to many.

Bob developed a passion for amateur radio at the age of seven and remained an active ham radio operator throughout his life. He was also an avid steam locomotive enthusiast and a devoted fan of the New Orleans Saints, faithfully following the team from its inaugural season.

Bob was an avid traveler around the globe & played music with other bands. He also was a serious teaching instructor at Central Louisiana Technical College for 28 years. Bob was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his longtime companion and friend of 29 years, Patsy Howell Dyer; stepdaughters Jenny Harrell, Beth Dyer Saacks, and Nancy Dyer; and stepson Jeff Harrell.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregivers Vanessa Lamb and Lakisha White for their loving and compassionate care. Special thanks are also extended to the staff of St. Joseph Hospice and Rapides Regional Medical Center, especially the nurses and aides on the sixth floor, for their kindness and dedicated care.
