Rapides Parish Fire District 18 responded to 30 calls for service during May, bringing its year-to-date total to 164 calls.

According to the district’s monthly run report, medical calls accounted for the largest share of responses with 16 incidents. Firefighters also responded to three motor vehicle accidents, three weather-related calls, one public service call, one hazardous situation, one structure fire, two mutual aid requests and four calls that were canceled while crews were en route.

The department provided mutual aid assistance on two occasions, responding to incidents in the Echo-Poland and Cheneyville areas.

Fire District 18 officials thanked members for their dedication and service throughout the month.

“It has been a productive month for our members,” the department stated. “Thanks are in order for those members who responded to our calls whether it was during the day or during the peak hours of the morning.”

The district also expressed appreciation to community members and partner agencies for their continued support.
