Alexandria Police Department arrests suspect in shooting and armed robbery investigation

The Alexandria Police Department responded on June 3 around 1:05 am to the 3800 block of 3rd Street in reference to a shooting. 

Upon arrival, officers learned that one individual had sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. 

While officers were actively investigating the shooting, another call was received from the 3800 block of 3rd Street regarding an armed robbery in which a scooter was taken from the victim. 

A short time later, officers located and apprehended 24-year-old Jarod Bell in the 3600 block of Lee Street. Bell was arrested and charged with attempted second-degree murder and armed robbery in connection with the incidents on 3rd Street. 

Additionally, Bell was arrested on an outstanding warrant charging him with two counts of attempted second-degree murder and domestic abuse battery aggravated assault. Those charges stem from a shooting investigation that occurred on March 27, 2026, in the 400 block of Daspit Street. No injuries were reported in that incident. 

This is currently an ongoing investigation.
