On the night of May 3, 2026, Peter Leon Riley, Sr. gently passed away at Bayou Chateau Nursing Center in Simmesport, Louisiana, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on July 1, 1945, in Wayside, Louisiana, Peter’s life was a remarkable journey marked by service, devotion, and unwavering resilience.

Peter proudly served in the United States Army, exemplifying courage and commitment to his country. After his military service, he dedicated himself to ensuring the safety and security of his community as a Corrections Officer. His professional life was characterized by an unwavering sense of duty, balanced by an immense capacity for kindness and compassion towards others.

His strength in serving others extended into his personal life, where his love for his cherished wife, Nether, and their children shone bright. Peter’s profound commitment to his family was a testament to his character; he instilled values of love, integrity, and perseverance in their hearts.

In honor of Peter’s remarkable life, a public viewing and visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Simmesport, Louisiana. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same venue at 11:00 AM. Final committal rites will take place at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery.
