Remembering Walter Murrell Holsomback

Graveside services for Walter Murrell Holsomback will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2026, in Greenwood Memorial Park, with Bro. Mike Eaton officiating. Services are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Pineville.

The family will receive friends at Pineville Church of Christ beginning at 11:30 a.m. For a time of remembrance and celebration of Walter’s life.

Walter Murrell Holsomback, 81, of Pineville passed from this life on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was born to the late J.O. Holsomback and Ruby Walker Holsomback in Alexandria, Louisiana on February 10, 1945. A native of Pineville, he was a graduate of Pineville High School and Louisiana College where he received his undergraduate degree. Afterward, he earned his Master’s degree from Northwestern State University. He spent his working career as a teacher and coach in Rapides Parish. He also worked with Tudor Construction and was a classroom instructor for the Youth Challenge Program at Camp Beauregard. Walter loved the church and was very active in his home congregation. He served for 25 years in Honduras as part of a mission’s group.

Walter loved his family and was proud of his children and grandchildren. He often took them fishing or riding four-wheelers. He enjoyed attending their sports events. He loved to watch sports and talk about sports with them and was interested in all the girls’ and boys’ activities.

In 1963, he married his wife, Cheryl Carlisle. Together they spent 63 wonderful years together raising their four children; Brad Holsomback (Jennifer), Tracey Aulds (Ron); Kandy Bozeman (David); and Brett Holsomback (Chrissy).

He was blessed with eight grandchildren, Kameron, Ethan, Will, Callen, Addison, Annabeth, Alyse, and Bentley.

In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, he leaves behind his two close brothers, Tom Holsomback (Mary) and Jimmy Holsomback (Phyllis).

Pallbearers will be Brad Holsomback, Ron Aulds, Brett Holsomback, Mike Holsomback, David Bozeman, Ethan Bozeman, Will Bozeman, and Callen Bozeman.

Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Holsomback and Jimmy Holsomback.
