Pineville’s 11-run outburst breaks open Game 1 win

The state high school playoffs started with a big bang for Pineville’s baseball team but ended with a thud for Peabody’s softball team, the only two parish teams that played Thursday.

After an 11-run extra inning eruption Thursday broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth inning, the Rebels try to clinch in their best-of-3 series today over Riverdale in Metairie at Mike Miley Park. The softball playoffs are single-elimination.

Today, Grace Christian hosts Glenmora in a 6 o’clock Class B softball first-rounder, while Oak Hill is home at 5:30 against Converse.

Pineville is the only Rapides Parish baseball team playing this weekend. Eight others start competition next week.
