Current legislative audit postings include:
Rapides Finance Authority – Net position virtually unchanged at $5.76 million in year ending last summer.
Of that $1.14 million is restricted for a board-designated economic development project. Audit report does not indicate nature of project.
Agency, created almost 50 years ago, provides financing for “worthwhile” activities including programs for first-time home buyers.
Unfavorable market conditions in audit year made it impractical to issue additional bonds, so no proceeds available to originate loans, audit notes.
Agency has no debt, no liabilities.
Chairman is David C. Butler II.
Alexandria City Marshal – General Fund income, $805,000; expenses, $764,000. Fund balance, $131,000.
Marshal Jerome Hopewell says policies will be implemented to meet state 5% budget variance law, an issue also noted previously.
School Board – General Fund balance, $76.1 million, year-to-year increase of $6.4 million.
Liabilities exceed assets by $256.6 million, compared to $305.3 million year earlier.
Total revenue, $379.5 million, compared to $402.6 million year before.
Total expense, $330.6 million, including $118 million for instruction and $16.2 million for student transportation. Prior year, $127 million and $29.7 million, respectively.
