Weather outlook: Warm, sunny weather expected, flood warning for Calcasieu River near Glenmora

Residents in Rapides Parish can expect a steady warming trend and dry conditions through early next week, while a flood warning remains in effect for a nearby river.

Sunny skies are forecast for today with highs in the upper 50s and light northeast winds.

Temperatures will begin to rise on Wednesday, with mostly sunny conditions and highs around 70 degrees. South winds between 5 and 10 mph will accompany the warming trend.

By Thursday, sunny conditions will continue with highs reaching the upper 70s and light southwest winds.

From Friday through Monday, mostly clear skies are expected with highs climbing into the mid-80s and overnight lows in the upper 50s.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service has issued a continued flood warning for the Calcasieu River near Glenmora.

Officials report that minor flooding is currently occurring and is expected to continue until further notice. As of Tuesday morning, the river stage was measured at 13.0 feet, which is above the flood stage of 12.0 feet.

The river is expected to crest around 13.0 feet, with flooding impacting forested areas near the river when levels remain near or above 12 feet.

Residents in low-lying areas near the river are encouraged to remain aware of conditions and use caution.
