Services for Sarah Catherine Neal Tennie will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Christian Worship Center, 6101 Masonic Drive, Alexandria, Louisiana, with Reverend Michael H. Grimes officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00AM at the church. Burial will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens, 8855 US-165, Woodworth, LA 71485 under the direction of Robinson Family Mortuary. Ms. Sarah Tennie, age 86, of Alexandria, Louisiana, passed away at 2:00PM on March 12, 2026, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Sarah was born on January 2, 1940, in Lawrence County, Mississippi, to James Neal, Sr. and Josephine McCann. She attended Oak Park High School in Laurel, Mississippi, where she enjoyed playing basketball. She was a devoted disciple of Pleasant Green Baptist Church for over 40 years, where she faithfully served as Head of the Deaconess Board and worked in many other capacities throughout the church. Sarah was a talented seamstress for more than 60 years and was employed at Jerry Lee Fine Menswear for 56 years. She remained dedicated to both her church and her work until her health began to decline. If she was able to drive herself, she was there! Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, James Neal, Sr. and Josephine McCann; her husband, Cornelius Tennie; her son, Jeffeory Carl Tennie; her sisters, Sherry McCann and Peggy McCann; and her brothers, James Neal, Jr. and John Ealy. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Salette Tennie of Alexandria; her four sons, Charles Neal (Donna) of Red Oak, Texas, Dwaine Tennie (Tanna), Dwight Tennie, Sr. (Frances), and Stanley B. Tennie, all of Alexandria; her sister, Deborah Cooley of Laurel, Mississippi; her three brothers, Isaac Neal of Jackson, Mississippi, Donald Roy McCann of Atlanta, Georgia, and John McCann (Sheila) of Laurel, Mississippi; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
