An inmate work crew reporting for duty at the Police Jury compound on Esler Field Road near Libuse Cut Off, attempted to escape at approximately 6:56am Thursday, Aug. 14.
Quick action by Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies and a Corrections K-9 captured the subject in the woods within approximately seven minutes.
Patrol deputies also responded and the inmate was placed under arrest and is being transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
