Pineville, ASH softball stars earn All-State distinction; 12 more parish players, 6 from Tioga, get honorable mention

Three local standouts, two from Pineville, made the Louisiana Sports Writers’ Association Class 5A softball All-State team announced Thursday, with three more earning honorable mention recognition.

Madelyn Halle and Jadin Basco of Pineville, and Amiyah Wilson from ASH, were the only parish softball or baseball stars to make first-team All-State in classes 5A or 4A.  However, a dozen received honorable mention recognition in voting by 12 LSWA chapter chairmen from around the state.

Halle, a senior infielder, batted .430 for the Lady Rebels, while sophomore outfielder Basco hit .394. Another sophomore, ASH’s Wilson, posted a .494 average.

Honorable mentions locally in 5A softball were Addalyn Burch and Briley Byrnes of Pineville and Sarah Grace Buckels from ASH.

Pineville also had two of the three parish HM’s on the 5A All-State baseball team: Wes Oats ad Austyn Taylor. Brayden Rachal of ASH was the other local honorable mention.

On the Class 4A All-State teams, all the parish recognition went to Tioga stars.

Included on the softball honorable mention list were Abby Jones, Anistyn Nichols and Kaitlyn Roberts.

The 4A baseball All-State honorable mentions were Kayden Coghlan, Ryan Crooks and Ryan Reeves.
