The City of Alexandria Water Department announces that the aggressive fire hydrant flushing effort continues. Fire hydrant flushing will assist in removal of sediment accumulation within the lines. Although flushing may lead to a temporary increase in water discoloration, water quality is not effected. If you are in an area scheduled for flushing and experience discoloration, please allow 24 hours for water to clear.

The next area on the schedule, being flushed between June 9 and June 13, is Elliott St. from Chester St. to Pierson St. and all surrounding side streets including Avenues A, B, and C
