The Alexandria Police Department is warning the public about a recent phone scam targeting residents in our community. On May 7, 2025, APD was made aware that individuals have been receiving phone calls from a number that appears to be associated with the department, 318-441-6470.
The caller is falsely identifying themselves as an officer from the Alexandria Police Department Warrant Division and is requesting payment — specifically in the form of gift cards — to clear an alleged warrant.
This is a scam. The Alexandria Police Department does not request or accept any form of payment over the phone, especially not through gift cards. They do not conduct official business in this manner.
APD urges all residents to be vigilant and not to provide any personal information or send any money in response to these calls. If anyone receives a suspicious call of this nature, please hang up immediately and contact the Alexandria Police Department directly to report it at 318-449-5099.
The public’s safety and awareness are important to APD. Share this information with friends and family, especially those who may be vulnerable to these types of scams.
This is currently an ongoing investigation.
