Suspect in 2024 ATM theft arrested

Corey Cortez Rosenthal
Patrol deputies responded to a local business in the 5000 block of Old Boyce Road near the Rapides Station exit in reference to an alarm activation on February 12, 2024. Upon arrival, deputies observed the front doors of the business were missing and items were scattered all through the store. Deputies cleared the building for suspects and secured the scene for Sheriff’s Detectives to begin their investigation.

Sheriff’s detectives, along with Crime Scene Unit, arrived and began processing the scene. While Detectives were processing potential evidence, the owner of the establishment arrived and was able to provide detectives with video of the burglary suspect and the vehicle he was driving. From their investigation, detectives determined the suspect, later identified as Corey Cortez Rosenthal, 54 of Seagoville, TX, rammed his vehicle into the front of the business, eventually gaining access to inside the store where he allegedly stole the ATM machine located inside the store.

As the investigation continued, Detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause for arrest warrants for Rosenthal for Simple Burglary, Obstruction of Justice, Criminal Damage to Property >$ 1,000 < $50,000 and Theft > $1,000 < $5,000. Due to the suspect living in the Dallas, TX, area, the warrant for Rosenthal was placed into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database in an attempt to locate him. Detectives contacted Dallas County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in locating Rosenthal.

On April 7, Rosenthal was located by officers with the Dallas Police Department and was taken into custody without incident. Rosenthal was booked into the Dallas County Jail where he was held for extradition back to Rapides Parish. On April 29, Rosenthal was extradited back to Rapides Parish and booked on the local felony warrants. Rosenthal remains in jail at the time of this release being held on a $100,000 bond.
