According to Capital One Shopping, the state of Louisiana lost $98,200,000 in sales tax revenue in 2022 because of theft. That’s money that could be used to improve schools, roads, public services, and more.
When thieves steal, businesses are forced to raise prices to make up for the losses, putting a heavier burden on honest customers. Ultimately, theft hurts the entire community.
