Wildcats take two from Jarvis Christian as men notch blowout

Scoring its biggest victory margin in almost two full years, the Louisiana Christian men’s basketball team blasted visiting Jarvis Christina 84-64 Thursday night at H.O. West Fieldhouse.

Coach Reni Mason’s Wildcats dominated the rebounding battle, posting a 54-35 advantage on the boards.  The win bumped them above .500 in Red River Athletic Conference play at 10-9, and drew them close to break-even overall (11-12).

Jon’Quarius McGhee posted his first career double-double in his 49th LCU game, scoring 15 points and getting a career-high 11 rebounds.

Bryce Weinmunson matched his season scoring high with 18 points for the Wildcats, who got 16 by Devin Carter.

LCU WOMEN 71, JARVIS CHRISTIAN 64: Defense made the difference for the Wildcat women Thursday as they held the visitors to 27 percent shooting aim.

Kylei Leblanc posted her fourth double-double in the last month, scoring a season-best 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds for LCU (7-14, 7-12), which got a career-best 9 rebounds by Jakiya Thompson.

Princis Goff led the winners as usual with 23 points. Deja Tanks produced 13 points and 9 rebounds and McKayla Price scored 10 against Jarvis Christian (3-17, 3-16).

The LCU hoop squads go to Texarkana Saturday for an RRAC twinbill.
