RPSB recognizes student accomplishments at recent meeting

At the Rapides Parish School Board meeting Tuesday, Jan. 7, outstanding students were recognized for their recent accomplishments. 

ASH Football seniors and Head Coach Thomas Bachman were recognized after their historic run to the state championship in New Orleans at the Superdome last month. ASH is the Division 1 Select State Runner-Up for their 2024 season.
 
Audrey J. is the Elementary School Student of the Year. She is a 5th grader at Tioga Elementary and is an accomplished actress, artist, and athlete. She is involved in theater and musicals through the community and within her church. She is also proud to be a part of the district’s Gifted and Talented program for both theater and art.
 
Landon T. is the Middle School Student of the Year. He is an 8th grader at Northwood High School. Landon earned Elementary School Student of the Year as a 5th grader and has also advanced as regional winner this year. Landon is not only an accomplished student but an accomplished athlete who serves as a model for his peers in and out of the classroom.
 
Kourtland M. is the High School Student of the Year. He is a senior at Peabody Magnet High School. He will graduate this year having been involved in his school through Student Council, Freshman Mentors, BETA, and Healthy Living Club while also having represented his school and community as a member of the Superintendent’s Student Advisory Board. He is also an accomplished member of his school’s speech and debate team–frequently placing first at tournaments.
 
Special Guest James A. from Bolton Academy has maintained a 4.0 GPA while earning several dual enrollment credits, Adobe Industry-Based Credentials, and participating in the ROTC program. He’s the recipient of the True Bruin Award, has lettered in Cross Country, and is on the E-Sports Team.
