Rapides Corrections Security Investigators received a complaint of possible criminal sexual conduct involving a deputy sheriff assigned to the inmate work crews on Dec. 30.
According to the initial report, a complaint was made of inappropriate sexual contact between an inmate and the deputy. The deputy was identified as Steven D. Littleton, 60 of Pineville, LA. Littleton was immediately placed on suspension pending further investigation.
From the investigation, sufficient probable cause was established that supported the initial allegations. Warrants for Littleton’s arrest were obtained and on Jan. 3 Littleton was placed under arrest and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center for two counts sexual battery and two counts malfeasance, in office sexual conduct.
Littleton remains in jail at the time of this release being held on a $40,000.00 bond. Littleton was terminated and had been a deputy with RPSO since 2012.
“We immediately began our investigation and followed the evidence to where it has taken us, resulting in an arrest of one of our deputies” said Sheriff Mark Wood. “The dedicated men and women of our department work hard every day to earn and keep the trust of the public and this type of behavior will not be tolerated.”
