Thomas David Announces Candidacy for Rapides Parish Clerk of Court

Republican, Thomas David, has officially announced his candidacy for the Rapides Parish Clerk of Court. The current Clerk of Court, Robin Hooter, announced her retirement effective November 30, 2024. A special election is now scheduled for March 29, 2025. David enters the race with years of business and legal experience in the private sector.

“I believe this is the time for a new generation of leadership to step forward and invest their time and talents toward building a stronger future for Rapides Parish.  Faith, family, and community are my inspirations and set my moral compass. As your next Clerk of Court, I will prioritize modernization, efficiency, transparency, and customer service,” David said.

David is an experienced attorney and community leader. Since 2009, he has served as Corporate Counsel for Pan American Engineers, where he successfully managed complex legal matters and led disaster recovery efforts across the country.

David is deeply involved in the Rapides Parish community. He holds leadership positions at the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce, the Central Louisiana Community Foundation, and the Alexandria Rotary Club, as well as participating with various local organizations.  

“Upholding the integrity of our election system in Rapides Parish will be another top priority under my leadership. I believe free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy and I intend on keeping the system safe and efficient.” David said.

David is a graduate of Louisiana State University and the Southern University Law Center. He and his wife, Natalie, live in Alexandria with their two small children. They are very active in their church, Our Lady of Prompt Succor, and their children’s schools.

Thomas and Natalie were both born and raised in Rapides Parish and are excited to serve their community.   David says, “I humbly ask for the opportunity to serve as your next Clerk of Court.”
