AFD responds to fire on Garnett Street

Alexandria Fire Department responded to a structure fire in Alexandria on Saturday morning, Dec. 7.

The fire occurred in the 3200 block of Garnett Street at around 4:40 a.m. AFD indicated that the first unit arrived within four minutes of the initial alarm to the scene. Three engine companies, a ladder company, a medical unit, one district chief’s unit, and a fire investigator responded to the alarm. 

Two people and three dogs were displaced due to the fire. However, thankfully, there were no fatalities. 

An unattended candle was determined by fire investigators to be the cause of the fire.
