Notes from public record:

Jury budget

Any comment on the Police Jury 2025 budget will be heard at a hearing at its 3 p.m. meeting today, according to the posted agenda.

First, jurors will hear an overview of the fiscal plan, then hold a hearing, then adopt it.

The parish does not post its budget on line. At last December’s hearing the General Fund revenue for the current year was estimated at $12.1 million and expenses estimated at $11.5 million.

And another

Assessor Rick Ducote advises his 2025 budget is available for review at the Courthouse.

A hearing prior to adoption will be held at 9 a.m. December 16.

Should be plenty of available seats.

Official interest

Commissioner of Financial Institutions Scott Jolly has set the Louisiana judicial rate of interest at 8.25% for 2025.

This year’s rate of 8.75% is the highest since 2007.

Judicial interest is that paid on a court judgment that has not been paid. The lowest rate in recent years was 3.50% in 2021 and 2022.

Housing shift

England Oaks, a housing community for ages 55 & older, has transitioned to management by the England Airpark Authority.

The 182-unit gated facility had been handled by Front Porch, a non-profit organization headquartered in California.

The Authority assumed management on November 1, according to minutes.
