Voters Saturday approved tax renewals funding programs for some of the young and the old.
Renaissance, rejected last year when it sought to add to its tax stream to fund capability of accepting violent juvenile offenders, got 10-year extension of a tax to fund the shelter sans the expansion.
The proposal got a significant boost from active support from Gov. Jeff Landry, Sen. Jay Luneau, Sheriff Mark Wood and DA Philip Terrell.
The renewal passed by a substantial margin.
Senior services funding was also renewed by a wide margin.
Three district tax propositions passed:
Road District 3-A maintenance, Fire District 10 operating and Buckeye Recreation District.
