
HOBBS, N.M. – The No. 3-ranked Louisiana State University of Alexandria men’s basketball team put up 100 points for the first time this season in a 103-92 win over the University of the Southwest (N.M.) Thursday night.
“Great road win for us,” LSUA coach Dimario Jackson said. “USW played really well! They shot the ball extremely well. But great job to our guys for staying the course and getting the win. We have to be better defensively.”
The Generals (8-1, 5-1 RRAC) trailed by one, 53-52, at halftime. They put together a plus-12 swing in the second half.
All-American Kashie Natt led LSUA with 26 points. He went 10-for-16 from the field and 11-for-17 at the free throw line. EJ McQuillan added 24 points and went 6-for-10 from the field, including a 4-for-7 mark from deep. TJ James also finished in double digits, shooting 6-for-8 from the floor for 12 points.
Natt recorded 13 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season. James notched 11 boards for his first double-double of the year.
The Generals are back in action on Saturday at Paul Quinn College in Dallas, Texas in an afternoon doubleheader with the women’s team.
LSUA women win nailbiter – LSUS took down the University of the Southwest (N.M.) in a Red River Athletic Conference game, 66-63.
“It was a really good road game for us,” LSUA coach Billy Perkins said. “I’m proud of our team after a long bus drive.”
Benedetta Peracchi led the Generals (8-2, 5-1 RRAC) with 19 points. She finished 6-for-10 from the field and knocked down seven free throws. Dannah Martin-Hartwick recorded 18 points. She went 5-for-8 from the field and 6-for-7 at the charity stripe. Blair Smith (11) and Jewel Jones (10) also recorded double digit scoring efforts.
