Central LA Community Foundation announces awards, finalists for Celebration of Philanthropy

The Central Louisiana Community Foundation has announced finalists and recipients for several of its awards ahead of its annual Celebration of Philanthropy. The Celebration is an annual event to honor the generosity and spirit of those making a difference in the community and will beheld on November 21, 2024. 

The finalists for the Norman Martin Legacy Leadership Award include Bonita Armour, Kelly Pepper, Marle Chapman, Marshall Pierite, and Scott Laliberte. This award honors the legacy of Norman Martin, and the finalists embody his spirit of generosity, honor, and dedication to the community. The winner will be announced at the Celebration. 

Finalists for the Heart of Philanthropy Award were also announced. This award honors an individual, a nonprofit, and a for-profit business that embody what it means to have a charitable heart—whether through volunteering, supporting charitable causes, or inspiring others to give back. The finalists for this award are Tammi Salazar, David Thornton, Lee Mayeux, Glenda Stock Smith, Jessica Lachney, Kitty Wynne, Crest Industries, the Movement Lab, Roy O Martin, 97.7 The Cajun, the STAR, Six Feet Above, Children’s Advocacy Network, and the Junior League of Alexandria. The winner will be announced at the Celebration. 

The winner of one award has been announced. Starfish Ministries has been named the 2024 Rising Star Award recipient. This award recognizes new nonprofits making a big impact, and Starfish Ministries is doing just that by providing essential resources and support to individuals in need.

The Celebration of Philanthropy will be held Thursday, November 21, 2024, 6-8pm, at the Coughlin Saunders Performing Arts Center in Alexandria.
