Two lopsided non-conference losses on the road to start the season can be chalked up as learning experiences for the Louisiana Christian University Wildcats football team.

The games that really count begin Saturday evening in the home opener at Wildcats Field, in the Sooner Athletic Conference debut for LCU.

When the Wildcats kick off at 6 against Langston, it will be billed as the Oklahoma Ford Dealers Game of the Week in the SAC. The defending co-champion Wildcats have a lot to prove as new head coach Ben McLaughlin, one of the top LCU players this century, makes his homefield debut running the program.

Last season, the Wildcats beat the Lions 35-22 on the road. Langston is 0-1 this year while LCU has fallen big at St. Thomas (Florida) in its season opener and was predictably routed last Saturday at NCAA Division I Houston Christian.
