Makal Neal and Melvin Pye Jr., each accused of attempted 2nd degree murder, are not strangers to arrest on the same day.

Neal, 24, of Pineville and Pye, 29, of Alexandria were booked a few hours apart Tuesday. Each is held under $250,000 bail.

Whether their arrests are related isn’t known. Through last evening no additional information had been released.

The two were jailed in April 2021 after the vehicle they were in was stopped for allegedly speeding in Cleveland, Texas.

Officers allegedly discovered narcotics and a machine gun pistol in the car. The drug charge was a felony, the firearm count a misdemeanor under Texas law.

Also arrested Tuesday on attempted 2nd degree murder allegation was Elias Perry, 19, of Alexandria.

A prep football player and track sprinter just a short time ago, this is his third arrest this year. The first two involved narcotics and domestic battery.

Whether Perry’s arrest is connected to that of Neal and Pye was not known last evening.

Perry is also charged with obstruction of justice by evidence tampering. His bail setting is $260,000.
