Former GAEDA chairwoman Tracye Snow and former District 3 councilman and council president Jules Green qualified Wednesday to run against Alexandria at-large City Councilman Lee Rubin in November.
At-large seats are filled by city-wide voting.
Qualifying opened Wednesday and closes Friday.
The ballot, of course, will be headed by the presidential election. Also on it in parts of Rapides are congressional and state Suoreme Court contests as well as local races.
Snow left the Greater Alexandria Economic Development Agency in February when District 4 councilwoman Lizzie Felter exercised her removal right.
The agency has been on life support since.
In the same late-winter time frame Felter convinced the council to reapportion her reapportioned election district.
Snow was among vocal opponents of such. In fact, she is one of three plaintiffs in a civil rights/voter rights suit filed in federal court in June over that change.
Green represented District 3 until unseated by Cynthia Perry in 2020.
Perry qualified Wednesday to seek a second term. She drew opposition from Willie Chark. She defeated him in the 2020 runoff for the seat.
Longtime District 5 councilman Chuck Fowler also qualified.
City elected terms are staggered under provisions of the home rule charter.
In other contests, Chris Caffery, Randy Harris and Ernest Nelson qualified to fill the unexpired term of District D Police Juror Theodore Fontaine III.
He was elected last Fall but died before taking office. Nelson was appointed by the Jury to serve until an election could be held.
In Glenmora Johnny Fitt and Tebo Onishea qualified to run for police chief.
