Recreational mischief:  Pollock woman charged in theft of rec board funds

Tracy Borland Smith

A Pollock woman is accused of stealing more than $25,000 from a recreation organization board she is, or was, a member of.

Tracy Borland Smith, 35, was arrested following an investigation that began last week, according to authorities.

She was booked Friday and released on $5,000 bond.

The Sheriff’s Office declined to stipulate which complex organization or what Smith’s board role was, nor is the period of time over which the alleged theft occurred mentioned.

Smith has been most visible in softball activity centered around the Ward 10 recreational complex.

That complex is a publicly funded multi-activity enterprise. It serves as the activity center for several youth sports groups that are independent of the complex governing board.

Their revenue comes through registration and participation fees as well as fundraising activities.
