Police find 1 ½ pounds of meth, but bail set at just $5k for suspect

An Alexandria woman arrested in her home last week with about 1 ½ pounds of methamphetamines, digital scales and a variety of packaging materials is in jail after a three-month-long investigation, but facing only a $5,000 bail.

The July 9 arrest of Angie Kelly Strong, 62, of Simmons Street in Alexandria culminated a multi-jurisdictional investigation that began with a March 26 Crime Stoppers anonymous tip. After extensive investigative work, the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit obtained search warrants in early July for two Simmons Street addresses.

In Strong’s residence on July 9, she was found with the pound-and-a-half of meth and other items, and arrested. Two juveniles living in the home were released to family members.

She was charged with possession of CDS II (methamphetamines) with intent to distribute, with a “child endangerment” modifier based on the youths living in her home.

RADE involves 14 different law enforcement and investigative agencies in Rapides and Grant parishes.
