Perhaps God wept as a Pineville infant was slowly beaten to death, allegedly by his father.

Police charged Rodney Guillotte Jr., 38, with murder after the infant died, suffering from extensive battering to its head, torso and lower extremities, with injuries including bleeding on the brain.

It is alleged that the abuse occurred over a period of at least two weeks before the child was taken to a hospital Saturday. Police did not indicate who took the victim there.

It was not the mother, Elisha Mazerolle, 27, who investigators allege had first-hand knowledge of the matter but neither contacted police nor took the infant (gender and age not released) to medical care.

She was booked on a principal to murder charge as well as for a probation violation. Her bail is set at $100,000.

The father is held under $1.5 million bail as reported Monday morning.
