Marksville man arrested for indecent behavior with juveniles

Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a report of alleged criminal sexual conduct involving a juvenile on Feb. 20. Deputies took the initial report and Detectives from the RPSO Special Victims Unit responded to conduct their investigation.

SVU Detectives, along with Department of Children and Family Services conducted their investigation, and from that investigation, identified Michael Lee Shelton, 39, Marksville, as a suspect. As their investigation continued, and with the assistance of the Rapides Children’s Advocacy Center, Detectives were able to establish sufficient probable cause that supported the original allegations as well as additional charges.

SVU Detectives obtained warrants for Shelton’s arrest and on Feb. 21, Shelton was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Shelton remains in custody at the time of this release being held on a $300,000 bond.

SVU Detectives say their investigation is still ongoing and if anyone has any information relating to this investigation or this suspect, they are asked to contact Detective T. Paulk, RPSO SVU, at 318-473-6727.
