Post-election backing provides relief to Rep. DeWitt

By JIM BUTLER

Jason DeWitt’s campaign received enough contributions after his election as District 25 state representative to repay him a $50,000 loan he made to get it started.

DeWitt, of Boyce, was elected in the October 14 primary.

According to its report filed this month, the freshman legislator’s campaign fund received $12,500 in contributions between October 30 and December 31, including $5,000 from the Republican Legislative Delegation and $2,500 from La Realtors PAC.

The campaign was able to pay back the loan on December 13. It had $47,000 on hand at the start of the period.

After paying the debt and miscellaneous other expenses, the fund entered 2024 with about $8,000 on hand.

DeWitt has been appointed to the House Appropriations, Labor and Industrial Relations, and Natural Resources and Environment committees and the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget.
