The City of Alexandria and the Alexandria Fire Department presented 13-year-old Jayla Sargent with the Heroism Award during the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Service. Jayla was honored for her selfless and life-saving actions. On the morning of Nov. 21 she entered a burning home, putting her safety and well-being aside, to rescue a person in need.
