The Rapides Parish school Board presented Tioga High School Science teacher Melissa Porter and her certified therapy dog Rosie with a Believing in the Mission Award.
A few days out of each week, Rosie spends the day visiting classrooms, helping students, and even earning treats from administrators. Rosie’s presence is nothing short of heartwarming.
“Mrs. Porter has always had an enormously positive impact on our students, but it is her work with Rosie that caused her impact to reverberate throughout the school. Every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday our students cannot wait to see Rosie–not to mention our teachers, staff, and administration,” Principal Ben Arrington says about Rosie.
Rosie helps address many social-emotional needs and does so in a warm, playful manner. As Porter had a student tell her, “A day with Rosie is a good day!”
Thank you Porter and Rosie for ELEVATING students, faculty, and staff at Tioga High School!
