The Alexandria Police Departed requested the public’s assistance on June 29 in identifying a man in a picture taken from the Green Meadow area of Alexandria who attempted to abduct a six-year-old child.
On June 30 the Alexandria Police Department can confirm that through tips provided by the public and in collaboration with the Louisiana Department of Probation and Parole the identity of the man in the picture was learned. The suspect is identified as Shanon Wayne Thrasher, 47 of Alexandria.
Alexandria Police Department detectives served a search warrant at Thrasher’s residence where he was arrested without incident and charged him with one count of Aggravated Kidnapping of a Child. Thrasher was booked into the Rapides Parish Detection Center. Thrasher was on parole for a 2007 conviction for Attempted Kidnapping.
The Alexandria Police Department would like to stress that this is an isolated event and we have no information or reports linking Thrasher to any other attempted abductions.
The Alexandria Police Department is grateful for the tips that the community reported. These tips were beneficial and assisted our detectives with this investigation. We encourage their help in solving crimes.
