Four individual competitors and a relay team from Rapides Parish high schools have earned All-State track and field honors from the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Performances from throughout the outdoor season – including district, regional and state meets — were assessed and the top three marks in each event, regardless of classification, were compiled to make up the 2023 LSWA’s All-State Track & Field Team.

Tioga’s boys were state runner-ups and one of the Indians’ top competitors picked up All-State honors.

Hayden Christman’s 183-1 discus best was not only No. 1 in the state in all classifications, but it was nearly 18 feet ahead of the second-best mark.

In the 800 meter run, Justin Descant of Pineville made the All-State team with his 1:54.87 clocking that ranked third statewide.

In the 4×400 meter relay, the ASH team had the third-fastest time, 3:18.44.

On the girls’ All-State roster, pole vaulter Lauren Roberts from ASH cleared 12-6 to post the best mark in Louisiana this season.

Alexis Guillory of ASH had the state’s No. 3-ranked javelin throw, 144-9.
