Funeral services celebrating the life of James Barrett “Barry” Knapp will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 8, 2023, in The Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Dr. C. Stewart Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be observed at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and resume on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Gene Knapp, Jr., John Knapp, Donnie Wilburn, Garrett Wilburn, Evan Knapp, Drew Knapp, Blake Morrison, John Valenzuela, Brian Paul. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Wilburn, Kaleb Glover, Dylan Ware, Ethan Ware.
James Barrett Knapp, of Alexandria, passed from this life on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Methodist Hospital in Houston surrounded by his family.
Barry was an amazing person who would do anything for anyone. He loved his family dearly and especially had great passions for being outdoors, fishing and playing golf. Although he struggled with health issues through his life, he never let that get in the way of living life to the fullest. Recently, he had received a kidney and pancreas transplant which gave him two wonderful years without the health problems. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Morgan Knapp, Sr.; grandparents, James and Elaine Reed, Norman Morgan, and Billy Joe and Janice Knapp; nephew, Colby Michael Knapp; great aunt, Jewell Griffin.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son Gabriel Barrett Knapp; mother, Marilynn Reed Knapp; sister, Kimberly Knapp Wilburn and husband, Donnie; brothers, Eugene M. Knapp, Jr. and wife, Jennifer, John R. Knapp and wife, Stephanie; nieces and nephews, Morgan Wilburn, Garrett Wilburn, Tyler Wilburn, Savanna Knapp, Ashtyn Knapp, Dylan Ware, Ethan Ware, Evan Knapp, Andrew Knapp; uncle, Billy J. Knapp and wife, Kerry; aunt, Tamara Knapp Morrison and husband, Butch; cousins, Blake Morrison and Shea Morrison Bonnette, Brendon Knapp and Mallory Knapp Smith.
