The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office has received several calls this morning about someone identifying themselves as a RPSO detective (they used the correct name but could not pronounce RAPIDES), saying they’re attempting to arrest the individual for an outstanding warrant.
Of course this is a scam, AGAIN.
Law enforcement NEVER calls to collect a fine or fee for not testifying or missing jury duty or to say they have a warrant for you. If the Sheriff’s Office is investigating you, you probably already know it.
NEVER pay anyone over the phone or through email that you did not initiate the contact. And again, law-enforcement will never contact you in an attempt to get you to pay a fine over the phone or settle a criminal matter through payment.
