Pineville council to consider new procedure on rental rates for city facilities

By JIM BUTLER

The Pineville City Council will hold a public hearing May 9 on a proposal to shift what some consider an executive function to the administration.

At issue is the authority to set rates for rental of city facilities.

Currently, any such consideration requires council action.

Rate setting would shift to the mayor or designated party in a proposed revision to the city ordinances.

Additionally pending before the council is a proposal to increase rates for the city’s Buhlow Lake facilities.

Approval would not be necessary if authority is shifted in what could be termed an administrative housekeeping measure.
