Between the lines on two noteworthy audits

Notes from currently posted legislative audit reports:

England Authority – Net position, overwhelmingly capital assets,  grew by $8 million; unrestricted use to $7.75 million.

Operating revenues, $16.5 million; expenses, $24.6 million; capital contributions, $15.8 million.

Leases generated $13.6 million. Airline charges, new terminal rates, England Oaks transfer, Oak Wing paced revenue.

Salaries and wages, repairs and maintenance, utilities expenses grew due to addition of employees from England Oaks as well as necessary upkeep, sanitation and other services. Oak Wing expense $462,000 more than income.

(England Oaks will be 12-month revenue, expense this year; golf course under new management since January 1.) 

Clerk of Court – Government account net position grew $811,000 to $1.55 million. 

Government account revenue, $4.78 million, primarily recording and legal filing fees; expenses, $3.97 million, overwhelmingly personnel costs. 

General Fund balance, $8.55 million. 

Restricted fiduciary funds balance, $12.7 million. 

No adverse auditors’ comments to either agency.
