A native of Pollock, Emily was born on April 8, 1990, to parents Timothy Oates and Susan Ferguson Oates. Emily was a one-of-a-kind soul whose exploding personality touched everyone blessed enough to know her. She never met a stranger. Above everything else, Emily lived for her children. They were her whole world, her greatest purpose, and the center of every dream she had. She loved them fiercely and unconditionally, and that love will live on through them forever. When around Emily her beauty was event inside and out. She had a quirky spirit, a curious mind, and a personality that could never be duplicated. She was truly a once-in-a-lifetime kind of person.

She had the heart of an explorer. Whether she was rock hunting (she loved her rocks), tending to her plants, or simply wandering and discovering the world in her own way, Emily found beauty in the little things most people passed by. She had a curious mind that loved asking questions and diving into conspiracy theories, always wanting to understand more about the world around her with her own ideas of what was behind the curtains. Emily lived life in her own unique way, and that is exactly how she will be remembered-free-spirited, curious, loving, and deeply devoted to her family.

Preceded in death by her maternal Grandparents, Charles Lee Ferguson and Frances Sue Ferguson; and her paternal Grandfather Billy Steven Oates.
