Yesterday, RPSO officers had the pleasure of attending the 58th Session of the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office Corrections Academy.

These deputies from Rapides, Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office Caldwell Parish Sheriff’s Office Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office and Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Office completed training in the care, custody and control of inmates.
Instruction included criminal law, Basic Jail Guidelines, deescalation techniques, defensive tactics, electronic control devices (Taser), first aid/ CPR, blood borne pathogens, firearms and high risk prisoner transport, just to name a few.

9th Judicial District Criminal Judge Greg Beard gave the keynote address to the graduates encouraging them to be professionals and never stop learning, always being safe and relying on their families for support in this very demanding career.

RPSO would like to commend their Academy Staff for their hard work and dedication over the last 11 weeks and over 330 hours of intense training.
